$10 Dinner Pantry

This is the mother post for the $10 Dinner Series. Every Thursday, I post a recipe that will feed a family of 4 for $10 or less. Food is the #1 budget killer. Restaurants mark up the cost of food between 300% and 350%. If you are trying to get out of debt, restaurants are not a good place to go. Using these recipes, you can make 30 dinners a month for 4 people for $300 or less.

Rather than include the few cents per recipe that things like seasonings and sugar add to a recipe, I am combining all of these things into a list called the $10 Dinner Pantry. These are just a few basic items you should always have on hand if you want to follow this series.

Spice Cabinet

  • Kosher Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Chili Powder
  • Paprika
  • Italian Seasoning
  • Dried Basil
  • Dried Parsley
  • Crushed Red Pepper

Dry Goods

  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Brown Sugar
  • Baking Soda
  • Baking Powder
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Pan Spray

Now, truth be told, I love to cook. I have some fancy gadgets like a sous vide and a vacuum sealer. I dont use these things in this series. Heres a list of the basic kitchen equipment I use:

  • Stove
  • Oven
  • Refrigerator
  • Mixer
  • Blender
  • Food Processor
  • Pots and Pans
  • Chefs Knife
  • Bread Knife
  • Zester
  • Peeler
