Chic Clothes Nobody Will Know Are for Nursing

Posted by admin on

The ease and affordability of fast fashion may be appealing when you’re running on three hours of sleep. But when it comes to actually looking and feeling your best in the post-delivery haze, you’ll want postpartum styles that reflect your new mom lifestyle and won’t rip, tatter or tear after just a few wears. From jumpsuits and everyday dresses to party dresses and blouses with hidden zippers, we uncovered nursing-friendly clothes that are worth the splurge. So, don’t sacrifice fashion for function because if you’re ever going to invest in yourself, now’s the time. You deserve it, Mama.

HATCH Back in the Game Nursing Jumpsuit

One of our favorite brands of maternity clothes has launched a collection of gorgeous pieces  to wear postpartum. Called Fourth Trimester: The After Baby Collection, the line includes loungewear, ready-to-wear and intimates. We especially love this stylish V-neck jumpsuit in the rich brown shade (also comes in black), and its double layer of fabric in front for easy nursing or pumping.

Available at, $248.

Layton Ellie Dress

This shimmering neutral with metallic tweed is perfect for all of your dressy affairs. The wrap style and side tie are both flattering and functional, making it easy to nurse or pump without having to shed your dress. But don't worry about it revealing too much: Once you unwrap the top, it still stays closed with snaps that you open when you're ready. The full skirt makes the dress look fun and flirty and, best of all, contains pockets to store a pacifier or other small items you want to keep with you. This dress also comes in a burgundy tweed, and the entire Layton line is 100% made in the USA.

Available at for $185.

Frances M Juniper Jumpsuit

Founder of Frances M and mama of two, Ariel is all about empowering women to feel themselves during the highs and lows of pregnancy and mom life. Her Juniper Jumpsuit checks all the boxes: enough room for a growing bump, a slightly tapered leg, scoop neckline and four buttons for easy nursing access after baby arrives. Unlike other jumpsuits we’ve seen with spaghetti straps, Juniper features flattering sleeves, which makes it easy to wear your most comfy nursing bra underneath. Dressed up or down, this jumpsuit will take you from bump to toddlerhood. We thought this jumpsuit runs big so if you’re wondering to size up or size down, we suggest sizing down. Bonus: It’s machine washable.

Available at for $168.

Boob Design Lil Dress

Comfort and style are no longer mutually exclusive thanks to Boob Design’s flattering Lil Dress. You’ll melt into the supple lyocell fabric and feel confident—with or without bump—in the dress’ flattering cocoon-like silhouette. Side pockets and a hidden opening behind the middle pleat for easy nursing access make this dress a winner with new moms, and one we think you’ll wear from sunup to sundown (we sure did). We especially appreciate that Boob Design’s styles are true to pre-pregnancy size.

Available at for $139.

Storq Maternity & Nursing Cardigan

To the naked eye Storq’s Nursing Cardigan may seem like your everyday draped cardigan, but a closer look reveals a smartly-designed cardigan made specifically for nursing moms. Incredibly soft, loose and light-weight, this alpaca-knit blend sweater will take you from walk around the block with baby to your early bird dinner and back to your glider for the 3 a.m. feed. There’s a hidden center front snap closure which makes it easy to baby-wear or discreetly nurse. The two square hip pockets make a great spot to store a loose pacifier or baby hat and the below-the-knee design ensures you’re always covered and warm. This cardigan runs big so if you’re wondering to size up or size down, we suggest sizing down.

Available at for $175.

BLOOMAIRE Mary Caftan Dress

BLOOMAIRE, which launched in Fall 2019, features a nursing-friendly collection that is sourced, sewn and finished in the LA area, with all garments dyed using low impact, azo-free dyes. Their Mary Caftan dress is a modern take on the caftan, but with the nursing mom in mind. We love that you can wear it two ways: v-neck or boat neck in the front with the option to pair with a detached tie belt if desired. Other new mom-friendly features include a 15” concealed zippers on both sides make for easy nursing access, side seam pockets, and a soft blend of Combed Cotton, TENCEL™ Modal, and a hint of Spandex for a flattering and comfy fit.

Loyal Hana Nursing & Maternity Top

Truth talk: so many nursing tops have obvious flaps, hard-to-open zippers or a design that screams, ‘I’m a nursing top.’ Not Loyal Hana’s. Their new chic Tory blouse in black and taupe stripe features a central zipper for easy and discreet nursing or pumping access. Thanks to Loyal Hana you can now feel confident wearing a top that makes you feel a bit like your old self and never have to awkwardly pull your shirt up or down when baby is hungry.

Available at for $118.

Boob Design Amelia Jumpsuit

If you seek an outfit that’ll make you feel less like a milk machine who got four hours of sleep last night and more like a put-together professional, Boob Design’s Amelia jumpsuit is your answer. It’s an all-in-one garment that is as comfortable as it is flattering. Sleeves can be folded up or down, nursing access is discreetly hidden under the belt and elastic at the back of the waist makes it easy to get in and out of, even at 9 months pregnant (yes, we’re speaking from experience!). A more fitted top that can still accommodate a bump and tapered legs make this jumpsuit a favorite of expecting and new moms.

Available at for $159.

Hatch Leona Dress

Nursing, pumping and changing diapers all day can wear you down. Give yourself a pop of confidence and color to offset those long nights with Hatch’s Leona Dress. Designed to wear from pregnancy through your nursing journey (and beyond), this dress features delicate lattice stitching, puff sleeves and a special floral pattern sourced from a vintage kimono. Wear it on or off your shoulder and when baby is hungry, simply pull down one shoulder for easy nursing access.

Storq Nursing Tank

If you dread putting on that same ill-fitting cotton blend nursing tank you impulsively bought online, turn to Storq’s Nursing Tank. Available in five colors, the only thing that distinguishes this tank from a nursing tank are the clips (read: it actually looks and feels like a normal tank!). Other features include a tag-free design, shelf bra with light support, adjustable straps and a zig zag stitching detail. This closet staple is one that you’ll wear even after you stop nursing.

Available at for $52.

Teat & Cosset Rachele Poncho

You make it a point to put baby in the softest of clothes and swaddles so why not treat yourself to the same? Teat & Cosset’s best-selling Rachele Poncho is made of 100% Italian cashmere. While its design is flattering for all three trimesters, we especially like the savvy design of the poncho’s removable hidden latch and button that holds the sweater up while you feed baby, freeing your hands to cuddle, position and take care of your mini me.

Available at for $198.

Hatch Savannah Top

Button-ups are a nursing mom’s best friend, but when you want to ditch the flannel turn to Hatch’s Savannah Top. This retro-inspired short-sleeve blouse features front buttons for easy nursing or pumping access. Designed in an understated animal print, it’s polished enough to wear out for that first post-baby drink with your best friend and versatile enough to wear out with baby to library storytime.
